NOTE.
What business contact information we hold, where it came from, why we use it and how to have it removed.
WHO WE ARE
MrMcK is a consulting business run by Mark McKenna, based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. We are responsible for the information described on this page.
WHAT WE HOLD
For each business contact, we hold some or all of the following:
- name
- role or job title
- company
- work email address
- public professional information, such as what appears on a company website or a professional profile.
WHERE IT CAME FROM
It comes from Mark McKenna’s professional network and business contact lists. Public professional information comes from the public sources listed above.
WHY WE USE IT
We use it to tell business contacts about MrMcK’s consulting and tools. We write to you in your professional capacity, about things relevant to your work.
Contacts in the UK and EU
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. We have a legitimate interest in telling business contacts about services relevant to their work, and we keep the information to the minimum we need for that. You can object at any time and we will stop.
Contacts in Canada
We email you only where Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) allows implied consent for business contacts. That means we have an existing business relationship with you, or you have published your business email address, you have not said you do not want messages, and our email is relevant to your role.
Every email we send says who it is from, tells you how to reach us and includes an unsubscribe link.
HOW TO OPT OUT
Click the unsubscribe link in any email from us, or reply ‘stop’. It takes effect at once and removes you from every list we hold.
WHO SEES IT
We do not sell your information or share it with anyone else. We use service providers who send email for us, under contract, and only for that. The newsletter sign-up on this website also runs through one of these providers. Their servers may be outside Canada and the UK.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
If you never reply to us, we delete your details two years after we last contacted you. If you do reply or work with us, we keep them for as long as we are in touch, and delete them two years after our last contact.
If you opt out, we keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we never contact you again.
YOUR RIGHTS
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. Email us at the address below.
If you are in the UK, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab). If you are in Canada, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (opens in a new tab), or to Alberta’s Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (opens in a new tab), which oversees Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If you are in the EU, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
